Split PDF Online — Extract Pages and Ranges for Free

Splitting a PDF lets you extract individual pages or specific page ranges from a larger document. This is useful when you need to share just one chapter of a report, extract a single form from a packet, or break a large document into smaller pieces for easier handling. Our free online PDF splitter does this in seconds — with no software to install and no files uploaded anywhere.

How to split a PDF online

Upload your PDF by dragging it onto the page or clicking to browse. A thumbnail preview of every page loads so you can visually confirm which pages to extract. Choose between two modes: Range mode lets you type which pages or ranges to extract (e.g. "1-3, 5, 7-9"). Split all pages mode exports every page as its own separate PDF. Click Split PDF to download a ZIP archive containing your extracted files.

Extract exact page ranges

Range mode accepts flexible input. Enter a single page like "3", a continuous range like "2-8", or a mix of both like "1, 3-5, 10-12". Each range you specify becomes a separate PDF file in the ZIP archive. This makes it easy to reorganize a document or extract multiple sections in a single operation.

Visual page preview

After uploading, the tool renders thumbnail previews of each page so you can see what you're working with before splitting. Page numbers are shown below each thumbnail. This helps you identify the right pages quickly without having to open the file separately in a viewer.

Free plan and Pro plan

Free users can split PDF files with up to 20 pages. Pro users have no page limit and can split documents of any length. The Pro plan also unlocks unlimited compression, merging, and PDF-to-Word conversion across the entire PDFUS toolset.

Frequently asked questions

How do I specify the pages I want to extract?

In the range input field, enter your pages separated by commas. Use a hyphen for ranges. Example: "1-4, 6, 9-11" extracts pages 1 through 4, page 6, and pages 9 through 11 as separate PDF files.

Can I split a scanned PDF?

Yes. Scanned PDFs are image-based but they are still valid PDF pages. The splitter works with any PDF regardless of whether it contains text or scanned images.

What format are the output files?

Each extracted page or range is saved as a standard PDF file. All output files are bundled together in a single ZIP archive for easy download.

Is there a limit to how many ranges I can specify?

No. You can specify as many page ranges as you need in a single operation, as long as the total page count of the document is within your plan limit.
